Alberta Ballet

Overview

Alberta Ballet is seeking male and female identifying dancers for 2027/28, from Apprentice to Principal. Apply on DanceApply between 1 Oct and 1 Dec 2026; selected applicants are invited to audition in Toronto (30 Jan 2027, alongside The National Ballet of Canada) or Calgary (13 Mar 2027).

• Auditions are by invitation only: apply first, and selected applicants receive a formal invitation by email between 18 and 24 Dec 2026 (do not book travel before then)
• Strong classical ballet technique, plus pas de deux and contemporary repertoire
• Professional performance experience is required
• Women should be proficient on pointe

✉What to send

1. Online application on DanceApply: CV/resume, headshot, two dance photos, and a link to a recent video with classwork excerpts, one classical variation and one contemporary solo
2. If invited, bring: CV, headshot, two dance photos, a prepared classical variation and a contemporary solo (own music)

€Contract & conditions

Positions from Apprentice to Principal. Working conditions and salary follow the agreement published by CAEA: https://www.caea.com/agreements-policies/alberta-ballet/. Benefits include shoes, on-site physiotherapy and medical cover (dental, prescription, life insurance), plus a yearly CAD 500 health spending account and CAD 500 wellness spending account.
